What
is hemstitching? Hemstitching dates back to the early 1900's. It was
used to add a decorative row of crochet, tatting, or needlework to
pillowcases, handkerchiefs,
linens, etc. Fine needlework was admired
and cherished by many. Industrial machines were invented that placed
small consecutive holes into the fabric which allowed the
artist to
simply insert a crochet needle or tatting needle into the holes
allowing for a decorative edge to be added to finish the project.
Today, these same machines are still used to accomplish the same
results.
A
very popular way hemstitching is being used today is for the new
arrival of a baby! With our great selection of novelty flannel prints,
we are offering great "Hemstitched" flannel receiving blanket sets.
Each set includes a flannel blanket 36" x 36" and one matching burp
